B.B. King May Have Suffered A Heart Attack

Weeks after being hospitalized for dehydration, B.B. King was reportedly admitted to the hospital on Thursday. His daughter told the press the blues legend may have had a minor heart attack.

B.B. was admitted to the hospital for observation around 3 p.m. April 30 and returned home later that evening, according to Las Vegas-based KLAS-TV, which spoke to his daughter Patty King. She said the musician wasn’t eating and was dehydrated.

Based on its conversation with Patty, the CBS-affiliated TV station reports that “paramedics ran tests … and determined he might have suffered a minor heart attack.”

Meanwhile, TMZ says it also spoke to Patty. The gossip site reports “there’s a huge battle over B.B.’s care” between Patty, who lives with the 89-year-old in Las Vegas, and his longtime manager, Laverne Toney, who has power of attorney over B.B.

TMZ says Patty and her boyfriend filed a police report in November, accusing Toney and her assistant of elder abuse and burglary. No charges were filed.

B.B.’s daughter Claudette told the Los Angeles Times that B.B. was hospitalized in April because of dehydration caused by his Type II diabetes. He spent the first weekend of April in the hospital and was released April 7.
