On May 1, the German hard rock band performed at the Changijiang International Music Festival. Before the show, lead vocalist Klaus Meine told China Daily, “We know we have many fans in China. I am sure our Chinese fans will know some of our songs by heart and hopefully they will sing along.”

Apparently, Meine traveled to Beijing in 2008 for the opening ceremony of a Sino-German medical research program and was surprised to find that the Scorpions had quite a following.

“This might be the beginning,” he continued. “But it’s up to our Chinese fans. We hope there will be another opportunity to come back and perform in Beijing, Shanghai and other cities.”

The fact that Meine, who joined the band in 1969, four years after it was formed, is 66 seems to make no difference. He told the newspaper they have no intention of slowing down.
