Elton John Adds Australia Dates
In his tour announcement, the world-famous entertainer reminisced about his fondness for the land of ’roos and shrimp on the barbie. His live album recorded in Australia with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra was released in 1987.
“Australia has been one of my favourite countries to tour in ever since my first visit there at the start of my world-wide career in 1971 (it is incredible to think that my drummer on that tour, Nigel Olsson, is still with me today),” Elton wrote. “Some of my most memorable concerts have taken place in venues all across the continent. “The Australian audiences always seem to bring out the best in us, and I am certain there will be many more fantastic evenings when we visit in December.”
Having just played the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, Elton’s 2015 plans are definitely global in nature and include festival gigs on both sides of the Atlantic, such as Bergen Calling in Norway in July, San Francisco’s Outside Lands in August and Rock In Rio – Rio de Janeiro in September. He’ll also return to his Las Vegas residency at The Colosseum At Caesars Palace in October. Here’s the Australia routing:
Dec. 5 – Pokolbin, Australia, Hope Estate Winery
Dec. 8 – Boondall, Australia, Brisbane Entertainment Centre
Dec. 11 – Melbourne, Australia, Rod Laver Arena
Dec. 12 – Geelong, Australia, Mt. Duneed Estate (A Day On The Green)
