The high point of the ’s 35th anniversary celebrations looks to be the Royal visit of King Philippe and Queen Mathilde scheduled for May 11.

It will be the first time the famous concert venue in the heart of Brussels has had Royal visitors. The acts providing the entertainment for the already sold out 2,000-capacity venue are Girls in Hawaii and , both from the French-speaking part of the country.

Although the building is about 500 years old and has been an entertainment venue for more than a century, the anniversary commemorates the 35 years since Belgian promoter and jazz and blues enthusiast Paul Ambach convinced the authorities to re-open it as a contemporary music venue. It had been in a dilapidated state since a fire all but destroyed it in 1967.
