The 21-year-old showcase conference has lately enjoyed a new lease on life as last year’s attendance of 1,300 was also a record.

The evening showcases attracted a further 4,000 visitors. Apart from the usual panel sessions focusing on the Danish music biz, this year’s Spot introduced a special area for networking, B2B, seminars and international conference panels. The programme also included a workshop with top producers such as Che Pope (Kanye West), Gutfather (Kylie Minogue ) and Pitchshifters (Chris Brown). The showcases featured 205 performances across 17 stages.

The most remarkable was from AquaSonic, five musicians each performing within their own aquariums on specially made instruments. Last year event officer Steffan Møller said he felt Spot benefits from the ever-growing number of national showcase conferences, which he believes to be benefitting the business by driving each one on to higher standards. Spot was in Århus April 30 May 3.
