Paloma Faith Struck By Illness, Cancels Dates
The 33-year old British singer had already been forced to reschedule her second Sydney show at the State Theatre from Tuesday May 12 to the night after. But that also was abandoned.
Full refunds are offered for the Sydney show, as well as for those at AEC Theatre Adelaide May 14 and Perth Concert Hall May 16.
Faith was on her first tour of Australia. Live Nation said in a statement, she was “obliged by medical advice” to axe the dates.
“Paloma hopes to return to Australia at her earliest opportunity to perform for her fans,” the statement continued.
Faith tweeted she is not well enough to fly, and would have tests done when she returned to England.
Her cancellation follows that of fellow British singer songwriter Sam Smith who in early May called off Australian shows thru Frontier Touring after doctors diagnosed him with a small hemorrhage on his vocal cords.
Kelly Clarkson went ahead with a May 8 one-off show at The Star in Sydney after consulting doctors. She was in Australia doing promo, and had done a series of radio appearances, including an intimate seven song set May 6 for radio competition winners. On May 7 she lost her voice during a radio interview and cancelled her only live TV appearance on the visit. Her management attributed the problem to “acute laryngitis.”
