The radio station gave him the top, as the following day the local soccer team – nicknamed The Canaries – were matched against Middlesbrough in a qualifying match to get into the UK’s Premier League. Although he turned out to be a lucky mascot for the club, which won the following day’s match against Middlebrough 2-0, Norwich fans shouldn’t read too much in to his allegiance with their team.

Previously Snoop Dogg has been known to appear in shirts associated with other teams, including England, Liverpool, Manchester United, Arsenal, Celtic and Barcelona.

“I love the UK. They can never ban me from the UK,” he told the crowd, referencing an incident in 2007 when he was cautioned on suspicion of affray at London’s Heathrow Airport. He was held as a result of his alleged reaction at being prevented from entering a first class lounge at the airport at the start of an earlier visit in 2006.

Rain didn’t deter the fans from turning up to the city’s Earlham Park for the first major festival of the UK summer season, which reportedly drew a crowd of more than 50,000.

The May 23-24 event also had Foo FightersTaylor SwiftRita OraClean BanditGeorge Ezra, and James Bay.
