AC/DC Promoter Threatens Viagogo

AC/DC’s two New Zealand Rock Or Bust shows in December 2015 are yet to go on sale, but legal threats are already being exchanged.

Ian Magan, of Ian Magan Ltd., which is co-promoting the New Zealand leg with Australia’s Van Egmond Group, sent a cease and desist letter to secondary ticketer Viagogo, which is advertising tickets for up to NZ$1,300 ($924).

The band has confirmed that the tour w, which has a 50,000-capacity for concerts, and Wellington’s 34,500-capacity , but dates are not finalized.

Magan told the NZ Herald, “I have issued them a cease and desist. We will take legal action if they don’t comply.” Rebecca Davis of Viagogo’s International Communications division said the site received listings from pre-allocations to fan clubs, sponsors, VIPs, and travel/hospitality companies. She added the listings were “perfectly legal” and said every ticket is protected by guarantee.

Magan responded, “AC/DC are very egalitarian and want each fan to have an equal chance of attending the concert.” The band’s Australian shows are priced at A$99 ($75.75) to NZ$159 ($121.60).
