Manager Jack Rollins Dies
Jack Rollins, 100, a longtime artist manager who oversaw careers of some of the top comedic names in Hollywood including Woody Allen and Robin Williams, died in New York City June 18.
Rollins, the inspiration for the title character of Allen’s “Broadway Danny Rose,” was also a film producer and founder of Rollins-Joffe Productions. Among his other clients were Billy Crystal, David Letterman, Lenny Bruce, Harry Belafonte, and the comedy team of Mike Nichols and Elaine May.
Rollins was executive producer of “Late Night With David Letterman” from its 1982 debut until shortly before the show moved to CBS. He got his start in show business after World War II as a Broadway producer before founding a one-man talent agency in Manhattan.
