The nightclub, in a lengthy statement, reiterated it adheres to the common practice of asking for valid I.D. from patrons and performers to confirm they are 21 or over, along with a pat-down and wanding. In this case, “several members” of Wayne’s entourage refused to comply, according to the statement.

“In accordance with The Venue’s long-standing policies, those members that refused to follow The Venue’s safety procedures, and only those members, were refused entry into the club,” the venue said. “Despite the fact that Lil Wayne was permitted entry, the stage was set up to his specifications, and he otherwise appeared ready to perform, he made the decision that he would not perform as scheduled.”

The facility said it was in the process of issuing refunds.
