HoB Sunset Closure This Year
Last year, Los Angeles media reported that the HoB would be demolished in 2015 to make way for a 149-room hotel but HoB spokesman Jim Yeager told Pollstar that it would more likely take place within three years.
That has been modified to later this year. House of Blues filed a WARN (Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification) document approximately two months ago, signifying that 197 employees would be laid off.
Yeager said it is necessary paperwork for a shutdown but “layoffs” was a misnomer, with the House of Blues actively finding new jobs for the employees. Many have found already placement and HoB is working on having a jobs faire for the others, Yeager said.
A WARN document is necessary to give “a 60-day notice to the affected employees and both state and local representatives prior to a plant closing or mass layoff” according to the State of California.
