Wishing Ringo Starr Peace & Love

What could you possible get a Beatle for his birthday? For Ringo Starr, it’s quite simple – he’s once again just asking you to flash a peace sign and say “Peace and Love!” He’s also inviting everyone to attend his big celebration in Hollywood on Tuesday.

“Peace and love, peace and love,” Ringo said, while making the peace sign twice, in a video posted on Facebook. “This is just a gentle peace and love reminder that on July the 7th – my birthday – all I ask for is at noon, wherever you are in the world, you just go ‘Peace and Love, Peace and Love’ and that will make my heart sing.”

Ringo’s birthday tradition began in 2005 after the drummer was asked what he wanted for his birthday and he replied, “More Peace and Love.”

You can gather with friends, coworkers or family at noon local time – or you can have a moment to yourself to imagine a world of peace and love, saying out loud or silently “Peace and Love.”

A Facebook page set up for tomorrow’s event encourages fans to take a photo or video and share your “Peace and Love” contribution with the hashtag #PEACEANDLOVE.  Ringo plans to repost a few of his favorite photos and video on his own social media and website.

Ringo and his wife, along with family, friends and fans, will flash the peace sign tomorrow at the Capitol Records Building in Hollywood. The event, which is open to the public, features performances of Ringo Starr songs by Spirit Family Reunion and Adam Arcuragi.

Announcements, a welcome and the “Peace & Love” salute are scheduled between 11:45 a.m. and 12:15 p.m PDT. Attending guests include Joe Walsh, David Lynch, Edgar Winter, Matt Sorum, Jim Keltner, Richard Marx, Richard Page, Gregg Bissonette, Gary Wright and Ed Begley, Jr.
