NZ Fest Inspired By Glasto, Coachella

A major new New Zealand international music and arts festival set for January 2016 will “bring a taste of Glastonbury and Coachella to the Pacific in both the style of the lineup and the approach to the festival site,” says promoter Paxton Talbot, who has directed festivals in Europe.

The McLaren Falls Music and Arts Festival will happen at McLaren Falls Park in Bay of Plenty Jan. 10-12. The picturesque park has a lake and bush setting below the Kaimai Ranges complete with glow worm caves, waterfalls and forests. Talbot hopes that the expected 10,000 will get to experience camping in the wilderness 20 minutes from the major area of Tauranga.

The music will cover pop, rock, folk, electronica, psychedelia, blues, soul, hip-hop, world and alternative. The lineup of acts from all over the world, will be announced in August.

The festival will also feature visual and performing arts, markets, and workshops and wellness in an “other-worldly” atmosphere.

“McLaren Falls is a music and arts festival that makes room and welcomes all kinds of music,” Talbot said. “We want to bring together people from all ages and walks of life to an event that is culturally rich and inspiring. People can relax, they can get wild, they can dance, they can hang back and soak it all in.”
