Lorde, Little Named Silver Scroll Finalists

Lorde and her songwriter partner and producer Joel Little are finalists in New Zealand’s prestigious peer-voted songwriting award, Silver Scrolls.

The performer was nominated for the song “Yellow Flicker Beat,” which she wrote for the “Hunger Games” soundtrack. Little led the nominations with three mentions, for his other work with sibling duo Broods and Australia’s Jarryd James.

Twenty songwriters were nom.

They included international acts such as Unknown Mortal Orchestra, SJD Six60, She’s So Rad, King Kapisi and Marlon Williams. As part of the 50th celebrations, the organizing Australasian Performing Right Association decided to also award the Silver Scroll for 1981.

“For some reason, the awards were not held that year,” APRA said. The 1981 finalist songs, chosen by APRA’s 10,000 New Zealand members are Split Enz’s “One Step Ahead,” The Clean’s “Tally Ho,” The Swingers’ “Counting the Beat,” Blam Blam Blam’s “No Depression In New Zealand” and The Screaming Meemees’ “See Me Go.”
