Mariah Carey To Perform In Israel

Mariah Carey has booked an August evening in Tel Aviv.  But don’t go thinking this is the first sign of a global adventure.  The local concert promoter says the show is not part of a worldwide tour.

Carey’s Aug. 18 concert at Rishon Lezion Live Park Amphitheatre was announced at a Tel Aviv press conference where the diva’s magnificent persona was present via a recorded video message.  Carey is currently performing in a Las Vegas residency at The Colosseum At Caesars Palace.

Apparently the show has been in the works since Carey visited Israel last month, according to The Times Of Israel.  The singer was accompanied by her significant other, American businessman James Packer.  A friend of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Packer recently purchased a house in Tel Aviv.

“She was here in June, and she loved it here,” promoter Lia Luzon of Bookmark Entertainment said.  “It was the magic of Jerusalem, of Tel Aviv. “It just made it all come together very easily.”

Luzon called the event a “one-time concert” and said it will be a “specific show” created for Tel Aviv.

Tickets are priced a bit lower than what one would expect for a talent of Carey’s caliber. Prices are NIS 249 ($65.13) for the lawn; NIS 399 ($104.38) for Golden Ring and NIS 599-699 ($156.68-$182.83) for VIP. The promoter said the prices will enable all of her fans in Israel to buy tickets.  Plus, the promoter isn’t looking to get rich on the show.

“I’m not putting all my eggs in this one basket,” Luzon said.  “We have other concerts, other performances, and I don’t have to earn everything from this one concert.”
