Nugent Supports Lion Hunter

Ted Nugent has come out in support of the Minnesota dentist who’s faced outrage on social media for hunting a protected lion in Zimbabwe.

During an interview with the Rita Cosby Show on WABC radio in New York, Nugent said the people upset over the killing of Cecil the lion but not other lions are “disingenuous and tragically dishonest.”

He expanded upon those comments on Facebook, posting a picture following a lion hunt.

“Here is a beautiful photo of me & my band with Cecil’s great great grandpa, Fernando the lion,” Nugent wrote. “No, they are not holding him down while I perform unnatural acts upon the helpless creature. Afterall, everybody knows lions are helpless & cute. Just fyi, this pure natural legal proper scientifically sound necessary hunt like all hunts was pure SPORT TROPHY MEAT FUN.

“Every sacred precious part of this animal was utilized. We hired 40 people on the safari, shared the meat, claws, skull, sinew, body fluids, teeth, blood, organs, skin, hair, tongue, eyeballs & each & every hard earned resource this magnificent RENEWABLE resource provided while bringing in critical massive revenues to the local economy while making room for new lions to be born & bringing value to valuable creatures. I dare idiots everywhere to point out what was wrong about this & all hunts. Fools are as fools be. Lion baby, the other whitemeat!”

Nugent, who is an outspoken outdoorsman and second amendment proponent, offers hunting packages on his property in Jackson County, Mich.

Dentist Walter James Palmer has been accused of financing an illegal hunt and luring the lion out of a sanctuary in Zimbabwe before shooting it with a bow and arrow. Officials are seeking extradition in the case.
