Ozawa fell Aug. 1, and will require at least three weeks of physical therapy. Ozawa still plans to attend his namesake festival in the central Japan city of Matsumoto to celebrate his 80th birthday and is still slated to conduct on Sept. 1 and Sept. 6, but he is no longer scheduled to conduct three performances of the Hector Berlioz opera, “Beatrice et Benedict.”

Gil Rose will conduct instead. The festival will run from Aug. 9 to Sept. 15.
