Neil Young Books More ‘Rebel Content’ Dates

Neil Young returns to the road in October for the West Coast leg of the “Rebel Content Tour” with Promise of the Real. In addition to multiple nights in California, Oregon and Washington, the road trip also includes stops in Montana, Nevada and Vancouver.

Lukas Nelson’s Promise of the Real, along with Nelson’s brother Micah, teamed up with Young to record the Canadian singer/songwriter’s latest album, The Monsanto Years. The band also features Anthony Logerfo (drums), Corey McCormick (bass/vocals) and Tato Melgar (percussion).

And after having such a good time together on tour this summer, Young and Promise of the Real are headed back out together this fall.

The two-to three hour setlists for the first leg of dates included solo acoustic, full-band acoustic and “full on raging rock jams,” with material from The Monsanto Years as well as selections from Young’s entire catalog.

The Detroit News describes Promise of the Real as “a younger, scrappier version of Young’s own Crazy horse.”

The publication adds, “Young locked in with his bandmates throughout the show, jamming with them during extended breakdowns like he was 20 years younger than his 69 years. … He’s ragged and lived in, his voice a haunting yowl that’s only grown more honest with age. He wears his rust well.”

Be sure and check out Neil’s Village on tour for an alliance of regional grassroots organizations, advocates and national nonprofits, offering info on everything from the future of farming to how we can work together to end corporate personhood.

The Pono Tent will also give you the chance to take a listen to Young’s Pono player.
