Ben Folds Announces Fall Tour With yMusic
The outing begins Nov. 1 in Huntington, N.Y., following a previously announced stretch of dates with yMusic that runs through Sept. 16 in San Francisco.
So There is due out Sept. 11. Folds teamed up with the New York City-based yMusic sextet for eight songs on the LP.
A few months ago NPR premiered the LP’s first track, “Capable of Anything,” which it described as a “little pocket symphony of sorts” and “a bit of pop perfection.”
Folds told NPR that he and yMusic had “cracked the code that would enable us to perform an upbeat pop song with no bass and classical instruments.”
NPR’s Bob Boilen was impressed, writing, “I find this to be the most lovable piece of music I’ve ever heard from Ben Folds, and he’s recorded a lot of music in the past twenty years as a solo artist and with his band Ben Folds Five.”
So There also includes the debut recording of Folds’ “Concerto For Piano and Orchestra,” which he recorded with the Nashville Symphony. Pre-orders are ongoing.
