The Biebs planned to take the stage Aug. 22 during a Beachclub event and sources reportedly close to the matter told TMZ he was set to make a couple hundred thousand dollars for performing a few songs.

While Bieber received part of his guarantee upfront, he was still waiting for the remainder until it became apparent the promoter wasn’t planning to pay, the source continued.

“Montreal due to the promoter of today’s event breaking his contract and lying I will not be able to attend today’s event. I’m sorry,” Bieber wrote on Twitter Saturday. “I look forward to coming back to Montreal in the future to do a proper show but I will not be able to attend 2day due to this breach. Thanks.”

Beachclub came out with a statement of its own following the cancellation and also pointed the blame in the direction of promoter, Team Productions.

“Due to a breach of contract by Team Productions, the promoter, today’s event at Beachclub featuring Justin Bieber is cancelled. Beachclub and Justin Bieber are in no way liable for the cancellation of today’s event. We would like to reassure all of our clients that tickets will be fully refunded on the spot,” the statement said.
