Peter Case Hits The Highway

Peter Case puts on his road boots for an October through November run in support of his first new album in five years. Destinations for the singer/songwriter include Santa Monica, New York, Nashville, Houston and Fort Worth.

Case’s new album – HWY 62 – arrives Oct. 30 on Omnivore Recordings.  We’ll save you the time it takes launching Google Earth by telling you that the album takes its name from the highway that runs from Niagara Falls, Ontario, to Ciudad Juarez, Mexico.

Turns out Case has had a connection to the highway as long as he’s been alive.  The Plimsouls founder was born in the Buffalo, N.Y., area just a block away from the road.

Case didn’t travel HWY 62 all by his lonesome.  The album’s guest list includes Ben Harper, D.J. Bonebrake from X; Cindy Wasserman and David Carpenter from Dead Rock West; Jebin Bruni; and former Lone Justice drummer Don Heffington.

“Everybody says I’m a troubadour, since I perform alone and bring the tales,” Case said.  “The challenge was to make a ‘troubadour album’ that rocks with electric energy – Ben Harper and D.J. Bronebrake were key to that.  HWY 62 connects east with west, north and south.  I’m connecting three-chord rock ’n’ roll, to all kinds of American Music, bringing together stories I’ve lived and found along the way, music about now.”
