Robyn Cancellations

Robyn won’t be appearing at Brazil’s or San Francisco’s as planned. The Swedish singer said it’s harder to perform songs from her new mini album with La Bagatelle Magique since last year’s passing of musician/producer Christian Falk.

Robyn and La Bagatelle Magique’s new release, Love Is Free, arrived last month.  Although La Bagatelle Magique member Falk died of pancreatic cancer last year, Robyn and third band member Markus Jägerstedt managed to finish the album without him.

Enter Sweden’s Popagana Festival, where a cancellation by Dans Dakar resulted in Robyn and Jägerstedt filling the empty slot.  But performing the new music proved to be a bit too much for Robyn, hence today’s cancellations – Rock In Rio in Rio De Janeiro Sept. 27 and at the Treasure Island Music Festival during the event’s Oct. 17-18 run in San Francisco Bay.

“It was much harder singing these songs on stage than I thought,” Robyn said.  “Even though it’s been a year since Christian passed, I’m heartbroken and performing them feels too heavy still.  I’m sorry to disappoint the fans that have bought tickets to these shows, and I will do my best to come back to San Francisco and Brazil soon.”

Today’s announcement also said Robyn and Jägerstedt are working on a video to be released soon and that “she requires a clean break from performing to focus on the future so she can return with new music.”
