In a Facebook post, frontman Kevin Cronin praised Richrath as “a unique guitarist and songwriter, and the embodiment of the tough guy with a heart of gold. I learned most of what I know about being in a rock band from [him].”

Richrath joined the band in late 1970, bringing original material such as “Ridin’ The Storm Out.” He wrote the hit “Take It On The Run” and recorded 12 albums with the band before parting ways in 1989.
