Matthew Davis filed the federal lawsuit Thursday against university trustees and school officials including athletics director Jay Jacobs.

Davis is a former manager at Auburn’s Tigers Unlimited ticket service. The suit claims he told officials that hundreds of seats at Jordan-Hare Stadium were classified incorrectly and were being sold at a lower-than-normal price because contributions weren’t being required as usual.

The suit says Davis later learned he was being investigated by the school for possible ties to gamblers who were supposedly getting information about players.

A university statement says officials have reviewed allegations about tickets. The school says it believes sales were handled in a fair and transparent manner.
