The owner of Hammerjack’s Entertainment Group, who bought the venue name and trademark several years ago, expects to open the $8 million facility on the site of the Paradox nightclub near M&T Bank Stadium by next December.

The project has been four years in the making for Kevin Butler, owner of Hammerjacks Entertainment Group, who purchased the name and trademark of the music venue several years ago, according to the Baltimore Sun.

Butler plans to start demolition and renovation this winter and open by Dec. 31 of next year.

The $8 million project, located close to M&T Bank Stadium, is to include a concert hall, club, 4,000 square feet of retail and an outdoor courtyard. Butler is working with property owner Andy Hotchkiss on the 48,000-square-foot development, which includes three connected buildings, two of which will be demolished for the courtyard and concert hall, the Sun said.

Paradox owner Wayne Davis previously announced that he would close the club next year after 25 years in business.

Hammerjacks originally opened in 1977 and became iconic in the 1980s, hosting acts such as Donna Summer, the Ramones, Guns N’ Roses, and .
