ASU Pursuing Promoter

Alabama State University officials say rapper Lil Wayne is not scheduled to perform at a homecoming concert and they’re investigating a fraudulent concert promoter that publicized the event.

School spokesman Kenneth Mullinax released a statement Tuesday evening confirming that the rapper will not be performing at a homecoming concert on Wednesday.

Mullinax says the school has been in touch with Lil Wayne’s representative at the Young Money record label and determined that he had never arranged to perform in Montgomery.

Mullinax says the university and student government acted in good faith and that an independent promoter arranged the purported concert, not the university.

Mullinax says the school will investigate and pursue litigation against the fraudulent promoter. He says fans who bought tickets online should contact Eventbrite.com for a refund.
