Pondering Rushmore Civic

Officials in Rapid City, S.D., are considering the future of the aging Rushmore Plaza Civic Center.

The venue reportedly needs $73 million in upgrades to meet Americans with Disabilities Act standards, but residents rejected a $180 million proposal to update the building earlier this year.

Rapid City Mayor Steve Allender recently announced the formation of a task force to develop a plan for the center in the coming year.
