China Cancels Selena Gomez
Selena Gomez has become the latest Western pop star to have a concert canceled in China for nominally political reasons.

Gomez was set to perform in Guangshou and Shanghai in early August as part of the Asia leg of her Revival tour, but Chinese authorities reportedly “blocked” her show after finding a picture in social media showing her in the company of the Dalai Lama, the spiritual head of Tibetan buddhism who China claims supports independence for Tibet, according to the Daily Mirror.
Gomez reportedly posted the picture herself in 2014 after she met the Dalai Lama at an event in Canada. In the caption she wrote, “words of wisdom #speechless.”
