Kino Kimino Prepares For Inaugural Intercontinental Tour

Artsy rocker Kim Talon of Deerhoof has teamed up with post punk legends Lee Ronaldo and Steve Shelley of Sonic Youth to form Kino Kimino, and the band is going on tour to promote its first album this summer.
Kim Talon of Kino Kimino.

The album, called Bait Is for Sissies, will be released June 3, and to promote the album Kino Kimino will be playing shows on both sides of the Atlantic. The schedule starts them out in New York on May 2 and sends them to Europe for a week in Germany and Scotland and a Week in the U.K. The group then returns to the northeastern and Midwestern U.S., closing out the itenerary in New York again July 3.

The band’s songs feature heavily distorted guitars and slightly dissonant vocal parts to create an edgy sound.

It released the video for “Caste Out”, a single from the album April 18. The song shows members of the band frolicking through the snow and empty shopping malls in Winnipeg, Talon’s home city. Supposedly, the music and lyrics were inspired by India’s caste system and the western equivalent.
