Michigan Theater Receives $2.5 Million Gift
An old Michigan theater is getting a $2.5 million gift that puts it over the top on its fundraising goal and renovation effort.
The Croswell Opera House in Adrian is celebrating its 150th birthday in 2016 and has been raising money for a renovation at the 630-seat theater.

The gift announced over the weekend is from Adrian native Julianne Argyros and her husband, George, a real estate investor who formerly owned the Seattle Mariners and served as the U.S. ambassador to Spain. The capital campaign sought $7.2 million.
Croswell artistic director Jere Righter said in a statement it’s “an amazing gift for our future.”
The theater was saved from the wrecking ball in 1967. Renovations including infrastructure updates are scheduled to be finished next spring.
