Romania: Russian Rock Musician Dies In Paraglider Accident
Romanian authorities say a Russian rock musician has died after his powered paraglider plunged into a lake south of Bucharest.
Local police spokesman Cornel Vasilache said the man died Sunday evening after the flying apparatus, known as a paramotor, fell into a lake near the village of Comana. Medics tried to resuscitate him for one hour but failed. The Romanian pilot was transported to a hospital to be treated for his injuries.
Romanian rock band, The R.O.C.K, identified the dead man as Nik Baydin, vocals and guitarist for the band, who lived in Bucharest. The group had staged a concert in Bucharest on Friday.
Fans have been called to gather to remember Baydin on Monday evening in downtown Bucharest. He is survived by his British wife, Fern Baydin.
