Rick Astley On Both Coasts

Prepare for a Rickrolling, America.  Rick Astley’s two upcoming August gigs will be the first U.S. shows for the “Never Give You Up” singer since 1989.

“I can’t wait to come back to America after all these years,” Astley said.  “I’ve got great memories of so many amazing times.”

The 50-year-old singer was just launching his career when his “Never Gonna Give You Up” single dropped in 1987 and went on to hit No. 1 on the charts in 16 countries.  The hit has since taken on a life of its own via the world of pranksters.  “Rickrolling” is when one is when one is tricked into clicking on a link for specific content only to see or hear Astley belting out the song.  How many times have you been “Rickrolled?”

The upcoming performances will include new material from Astley’s 50 album, due Oct. 7 on BMG.  The singer recently debuted videos for two songs from the LP – “Keep Singing” and “Angels On My Side.”

Here are the dates:

Aug: 10 – New York, N.Y., The Box
Aug. 11 – West Hollywood, Calif., The Troubadour

A limited number of tickets bundled with the new album go on sale Aug. 2 at 3 p.m. EDT.  Click here for more information.
