Luísa Maita’s Shuffle Through North America

Brazilian popstar Luísa Maita is headed north for a tour this fall and she is bringing Brazilian-style electronic music from her upcoming new album.

The tour kicks off in Toronto at  Sept. 23, the same day her album, Fio da Memória, launches in Canada. The routing also includes two appearances at  Oct. 1 and 7.

Fio da Memória comes out in the U.S. Sept. 30, which coincides with the second of a two-night stand in New York at . The new music incorporates many downtempo electronic influences, while still staying true to Maita’s Brazilian-samba roots.

No matter the tempo, Luísa Maita plays music that surely will make most concertgoers want to dance, so if you make it to the show, wear comfortable shoes.

Maita has an interesting backstory, as she grew up the daughter of musician Amado Maita and sang in commercial jingles and political advertisements as a child. She also sang during the closing ceremony of the 2012 Olympics in London and performed in promotional videos for the 2016 games in Rio de Janeiro.
