Selah Sue Coming Through
Selah Sue has collaborated with the likes of CeeLo Green and Childish Gambino on tracks and has some of the world’s best producers putting her in positions to succeed. While you could rightly call her style pop, the R&B and soul influences in her music are so strong that she often channels the late Amy Winehouse. Her hairstyles in music videos and performances of “Valerie” seem to give nod to the inspiration she derives from the blue-eyed soul queen.
A first, self-titled album went platinum in multiple European countries in 2011 and Sue’s sophomore follow-up, Reason, came out last year. Here is an example of how the new stuff sounds:
The tour has seven dates, the first three of which are in Canada.
European fans need not fear though, the songstress hasn’t forgotten about you. She has a show in Switzerland tomorrow night, followed by a pair of shows in Belgium. She has been on the road in Europe for the past few months, focusing her attention on France, Netherlands, Switzerland and Belgium, where she is continuously skyrocketing in popularity.
The fact that you can’t even access her most recent music videos in the U.S. is further evidence that she is not putting all her eggs in the U.S. and UK basket, despite the fact that her music is in English.
Here is her North American routing:
Sept. 12 – Toronto, Ontario, Great Hall On Queen Street
Sept. 14 – Montreal, Quebec, Corona Theatre
Sept. 15 – Quebec City, Quebec, Imperial Bell
Sept. 18 – Philadelphia, Pa., Union Transfer
Sept. 19 – New York, N.Y., The Bowery Ballroom
Sept. 23 – Washington, DC, U Street Music Hall
Sept. 24 – Boston, Mass., Brighton Music Hall
The general onsale opens up Aug. 5. Check out SelahSue.com and the singer’s Twitter and Facebook page for more on the Belgian sensation.
