Dick Shaff Dies

Richard “Dick” Shaff, 77, longtime head of the  in San Francisco, died from a blood clot in his heart while driving to a party for a coworker Aug. 2.  

He only made it a few doors down the street from his home, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. Shaff moved to the Bay Area in 1981 to open the Moscone Center and has been GM since its debut.

Shaff was so loved at work that when he tried to retire at the age of 70 he was persuaded to continue working, according to the paper.
