STS9 Announces Fall Headline Tour

STS9 has promised to “Get Loud” this fall. The group’s October-November U.S. outing goes along with the upcoming release of STS9’s first new full-length album in nearly seven years.

The Universe Inside is due out Sept. 2 via STS9’s own 1320 Records. The instrumental electronic/rock band wrote, recorded, produced and mixed the LP at its own 1320 Mission Control in Santa Cruz, Calif.

The album begins with “Supercluster,” which samples the original NASA STS-9 radio transmission. An announcement from the band’s PR rep explains that the song “represents the band’s return from a journey that began with their 1998 debut, Interplanetary Escape Vehicle.”

Another key track is the lead single “Get Loud,” which the band created in collaboration with singer/songwriter Betty Idol and acclaimed production team the J.U.S.T.I.C.E. league. At the center of the song is a “rallying cry disguised as a dance hook,” encouraging listeners to “stand up for justice and civil rights.”

The fall tour follows the band’s 14th consecutive year at Red Rocks Amphitheatre Sept. 9-10, and overall 20th performance at the Morrison, Colo., venue. Here’s the plan:
