Axed: Ms. Lauryn Hill, Stormzy, and ‘Beach Vibes’
A “change of routing” as well as revised 2017 plans have forced Ms. Lauryn Hill to cut her Sept. 25 stop at the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater in Tuscaloosa, Ala., from her schedule, according to an email sent by promotion company Red Mountain Entertainment. Refunds are available at points of purchase. Fans who purchased tickets via Ticketmaster will be refunded automatically.
Blaming reasons out of his control, British grime / hip hop artist Stormzy has flushed his remaining festival and headline dates with the exception of an appearance at the BBC’s
“You lot know how much I love and enjoy performing so I hope you can envision and understand how substantial the reasons are in order for me to make such a decision,” Stormzy wrote on his Facebook page. “For those of you that have already bought tickets to my own headline shows, I hope to be announcing rescheduled dates very soon so stay tuned.”
Stormzy was on the lineup for San Francisco’s Treasure Island Music Fest Oct. 15 followed by a run through North America that included stops in Toronto, New York, Philadelphia and Bridgeview, Ill.
LCD Soundsystem’s “Beach Vibes” planned for Mexico’s Riviera Maya Jan. 27-29 was to include Hot Chip, Run The Jewels, Carl Craig, DJ Harvey and The Black Madonna. Now artists and fans alike will need to find something else that offers a sunny getaway in January because the festival has entered the ethereal realm where all canceled events go.
“The event was not coming together in the way that it was envisioned, and all parties have agreed that putting on an event that is less than 100 percent would be a disservice to the fans and bands alike,” reads the message posted on the Beach Vibes website.
The note also states that “fans who purchased all-inclusive packages will be refunded in full, including related airfare expenses, and will receive direct communication from CID Presents in the coming days.”
