Metallica Does The Honors In Copenhagen

While U.S. fans continue waiting for a stateside tour to be announced, Metallica has booked the debut show at the Royal Arena in Copenhagen.

Metallica issued the news from New York ahead of tonight’s Fifth Member fan club show at Webster Hall. The band stuck around the Big Apple to play the intimate gig after rocking the Global Citizen Festival over the weekend.

“Greetings from New York City! We are very honored to have the super special, very unique opportunity to once again be the first event ever held in a brand new facility and this time it is in a city very near and dear to our heart, Copenhagen!” the band said in a joint statement.

James Hetfield & Co. will take the stage at the Royal Arena Feb. 3 and 5. The statement notes those are the only scheduled 2017 European performances “until the fall at the earliest” and once again teased “more information and additional dates” to come.

Travel packages and enhanced experiences for Copenhagen will be available via CID Entertainment, with perks including early entry to the venue, interaction with band members, VIP lounge areas and more.

A presale for Fifth Members begins Sept. 28 at 10 a.m. The general onsale starts Sept. 30 at 10 a.m. All times local.

Metallica’s new album, Hardwired … to Self Destruct, is set for release Nov. 18 on the group’s Blackened Recordings. On Monday the guys unveiled the official video for the track “Moth Into Flames.”
