Kings Of Leon Drops ‘Walls,’ Proclaims Tour
The group appeared on the Today show to play “Waste A Moment,” the opening track on the Kings’ seventh studio album, Walls. It actually seems like a pretty good indicator of what the live show might feel like, so let’s start off with the video:
<, Md. From there the band moves through the Northeast and Midwest before landing in California for back-to-back shows in San Francisco and Los Angeles Jan. 27-28. Critics seem to be big fans of the album, with the New York Times referring to the project as “timeless.”
Kings of Leon is a family act, as brothers Caleb, Nathan and Jared Followill hold down the vocals/rhythmic guitar, drums and bass respectively, and their cousin Matthew Followill plays the lead guitar. The group formed in Nashville, with a lot of Southern influences in the music, but eventually became indie-darlings and won a number of Grammy awards.
The band was also the subject of a documentary titled Talihina Sky, which premiered at Tribeca Film Festival in 2011. The film deals with the band members’ humble roots and religious upbringing. Here’s a trailer [profane language]:
