The queue of fans, some of whom had been camping for two days in front of the venue at temperatures close to freezing, reached around the entire building when doors opened at 6 p.m. They were not disappointed: Williams went through all of his hits, which took a couple of hours. The crowd went bonkers when he brought his former band mates of Take That on stage for a performance of “The Flood and Back For Good.”

Williams’ former bandmates also handed him the Brits Icon Award trophy, saying: “Rob, whether you like it or not, you will always be a member of Take That.”

The production in the 3,100-standing-capacity venue was nothing short of what one would expect in an arena, with PRG taking care of lights, and Britannia Row being responsible for the sound.

“This is probably the biggest production we’ve had in Troxy,” venue general manager Tom Sutton-Roberts told Pollstar. Sutton-Roberts has been quite vocal about the importance of protecting venues as cultural and community spaces, and he’s hoping that events like today’s will put us more on the radar of agents and promoters.”

The whole show was captured on 12 cameras and it will be aired on TV in December. The accompanying European stadium tour through the UK, Ireland, Germany, France, The Netherlands, Italy, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Poland, Lithuania, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Austria, Switzerland and Russia will commence in June.
