The opener will be in Las Vegas at the  in San Jose, Calif, Jan. 28. There is a TBD in the routing on Feb. 4, then the schedule moves to the East, eventually ending at the House of Blues in Boston Feb. 18.

After the stint in the U.S. the singer is headed back to his native U.K. throughout March and April. He also has single gigs scheduled in Dublin, Ireland March 21 and Newcastle, Australia, March 24.

His new album 50 reached number one in the UK upon release. For the past few months, Astley has been on a media campaign, having performed on The Today Show and been the subject of reports by the New Yorker and NPR.

“It’s been a crazy few months, to be honest,” Astley told NPR. “I don’t think anybody around me or anybody who knows me was expecting that, to have a No. 1 album in the U. K. again. That was pretty freaky.”

Astley already performed a few North American headline shows in New York, Los Angeles and Toronto to get audiences ready for the new album earlier in the year.

Among younger audiences Astley is probably most famous from the practice of “rickrolling,” or unexpectedly substituting the video for his single “Never Gonna Give You Up” for other content.

Astley’s new tunes take on a decidedly modern sound, using production techniques com*among electro-pop artists which highlight his mature and well-trained voice. He recently released a video for the single “Pray With Me.”
