Murray was reportedly a tour manager for Thin Lizzy, Elton John, and The Specials.

Murray’s passing during the Christmas season is significant because he is considered responsible for inspiring Shane MacGowan to write one of the U.K.’s most recognizable Christmas songs, “Fairytale Of New York,” and for also bringing MacGowan and singer Kirsty MacColl together to record it.
