Rockettes To Dance At Trump’s Inauguration

You can add Radio City Music Hall’s legendary Rockettes to the list of acts performing at President-Elect Donald Trump’s inauguration. The high-stepping dancers join a bill that includes the Mormon Tabernacle Choir  and “America’s Got Talent” star Jackie Evancho.”

There’s been more than a few names bantered about for the Jan. 20 ceremony in Washington, D.C., that will mark the beginning of the Trump Administration.  Elton John, Celine Dion and Garth Brooks were a few of the many artists rumored as possible performers, but their participation was never assured.

The Mormon Tabernacle Choir said on Thursday that its 300-singers would perform at the ceremony.

Meanwhile, the Mike Love-led Beach Boys confirmed that the group has been invited and is considering whether to appear.  However, don’t expect Brian Wilson or Al Jardine to be with the band.  A music trade publication sparked reunion rumors when it printed a photo of the Beach Boys’ 2012 Grammy awards appearance, which included Wilson and Jardine.  However, Wilson’s manager was quick to squelch the artist’s participation.

While the Radio City Rockettes will help usher in Trump’s presidency, not all dancers will be in attendance.

Although the Rockettes’ employer, The Madison Square Garden Company, announced Thursday that the dancers will perform, the company issued a follow-up statement saying the individual Rockettes are never forced to play any event and members must sign up for the inauguration activities.  The company also said more Rockettes had signed up for the show than there are available slots.

Apparently The Donald has noticed that his inauguration ceremony hasn’t attracted the caliber of celebs and performers that have played for previous presidents.

“The so-called ‘A’list celebrities are all wanting tix to the inauguration, but look what they did for Hillary, NOTHING.,” Trump tweeted.  “I want the PEOPLE!”

But could those A-listers have another gig to play on Jan. 20? Politico reports that promoter Mark Ross will stage a “We The People” mega-concert in Miami to compete with Trump on the day he takes the oath of office.

“The talent is banging on our doors to do this,” a source described as being close to the event told Politico.  So far, no acts have been announced.
