Eventim Strengthening Position As Local Promoter

Eventim’s Medusa Music Group has established Vaddi Concerts in southwest Germany to promote concerts in the Freiburg area. Marc Oßwald has been named CEO.

He began as tour promoter for German act Dieter Thomas Kuhn & Band, led promotion company Koko & DTK Entertainment since 2001, and headed up Freiburg’s Koko & DTK Entertainment since 2007. Dr. Frithjof Pils was named co-CEO. Both men will oversee Vaddi’s operations in the surrounding regions such as Bavaria, Austria, Switzerland and France as well.

Another Vaddi Concerts office is supposed to open in Tübingen during the course of this year. Local promoters still play an important role in Germany, which is a federalist country.

The different regions all have their own infrastructure and media outlets, which is why the larger players usually cooperate with local promoters. But as Till Schoneberg already predicted in his interview with Pollstar: “The trend is for promoters that operate on an industrial scale to increasingly promote shows entirely on their own, without a local promoter that needs to be paid as well.”
