I.M.P. To Open The Anthem

I.M.P. announced Jan. 24 it will open a new, $60 million concert venue in downtown Washington, D.C., later this year.

The Anthem, located just blocks from the National Mall, will have flexible seating ranging from 2,500 to 6,000, the company said in a statement.

The facility will be part of the $2 billion, mixed-use, Southwest Waterfront development called The Wharf.

Dori Armor has been named GM and will handle day-to-day operations.

Armor has 30 years in the industry, most recently V.P. of artists and touring at IMG Artists.

I.M.P.’s Melanie Cantwell, talent buyer for the company’s 9:30 Club and Lincoln Theatre, will also handle those duties at the new facility. The Anthem is expected to open Oct. 12.
