Al Jarreau Retires

Jazz legend Al Jarreau has been forced into retirement following hospitalization for exhaustion, according to his website.

“Al Jarreau is in the hospital in Los Angeles, due to exhaustion,” the statement reads. “He is receiving excellent medical care, responding to treatments, and improving slowly.

“The medical team has instructed that he cannot perform any of his remaining 2017 concert dates. Therefore, with complete sorrow, Al Jarreau must retire from touring.”

Jarreau, who turns 77 years old next month, had dates including Feb. 17 in Washington, D.C., Feb. 24 in Waukegan, Ill., and March 3 in Dallas. He had recently missed The Jazz Cruise that took in Florida, New Orleans and Mexico due to shortness of breath.

The seven-time Grammy winner’s website says to contact points of purchase regarding refunds.
