DEAG Scraps Rockavaria In 2017

The Rockavaria festival in Munich, Germany, isn’t happening this year. The brand may be reactivated in the future.

Global Concerts, which is DEAG’s local promoter in Munich, released a statement citing the unavailability of artists as the reason for the cancellation.

“We want to stay true to our ambition of only presenting Rockavaria when it’s good enough,” Global Concerts CEO Andrea Blahetek-Hauzenberger said.

The statement suggests that the festival might return.

DEAG boss Peter Schwenkow said “we’ll do it like Knebworth: if the right acts are coming, it’ll continue of course.”

DEAG had to cancel its other German rock festival, Rock im Revier, last year. It still promotes Knebworth, which takes place in the Austrian capital June 2-5.
