Depeche Mode Moves Fans To Front Of Presale Line

Depeche Mode is looking out for its North American fans by introducing a unique rewards system that will give people who buy its new album and promote its upcoming tour on social media first dibs on tickets.

The system, which operates through the band’s website, lets fans register for the presale by putting them in a digital “line” for tickets. It then moves fans up in the line when they pre-order the new album, invite friends to sign up or share links to the tour on social media.

The band hasn’t yet revealed which cities it will be playing, but will save a spot for you in line for the city closest to your preferred location. The first person in line in each market will also get an exclusive meet and greet.

This system allows for multiple orders of the album and your position in line is dynamic, so those seeking to get tickets can always buy or hype the band more to give themselves a better shot at scoring tickets. An FAQ page is available through the band’s website.

Registered fans will be sent a unique code for the presale 48 hours ahead of the onsale.

While the band has said it is doing this for the fans, there are clearly some fans it will not support: Richard Spencer, a white nationalist who is credited with coining the term “alt-right” to describe a neo-fascist political movement, recently said that Depeche Mode is “the official band of the alt-right” after being ejected from the CPAC conference.

A representative for the band has since reportedly said “Depeche Mode has no ties to Richard Spencer or the alt-right and does not support the alt-right movement.”

Depeche Mode is set to release its next album, Spirit, March 17. The band has maintained a remarkable level of consistency, releasing an album every three to four years for the past 25 years or so. In the ’80s Depeche Mode was truly prolific, with a run of seven full-length albums in seven years.

The band recently released a single from the new album, titled “Where’s The Revolution?”

The group already has a mammoth routing booked in Europe this year that will see the Mode on the road for more than two months.
