Sydney Music Venues Offer Option To NSW Gov.
About 20 Sydney live music venue operators in its CBD and Kings Cross entertainment precincts who come under the city’s lockout laws have offered the New South Wales (NSW) government an alternative.
Under the City Safe proposal, those would become “safe” venues. Electronic Incident Registers (EIR) software provided by Australian company AusComply would monitor in-house activities 24/7.
If no incidents were recorded, they would become exempt. The venues would also serve as safe houses for non-customers who felt anxious or unsafe outside.
They can stay inside until their ride arrived. Staff would also be trained to offer basic medical aid or call police or ambulance if they felt the need.
