Depeche Mode Takes ‘Global Spirit’ To Latin America

Mexico and South America better get ready because Depeche Mode is bringing its synths to six cities in support of its Spirit album.

The dates are about a year away, so there is plenty of time to make plans. The first gig is March 11 in Mexico City’s Foro Sol.  The tour then moves into Colombia, Peru, Chile, Argentina, wrapping in Brazil on March 27.

The band is billing this as its first trip to the region since 2009, when it was promoting Sounds of the Universe.

“We’re incredibly excited to return to Latin America,” singer Dave Gahan said. “We weren’t able to see our fans there on the last tour, so we knew we had to visit this time.”

U.K. fans can catch Depeche Mode next week in Glasgow, Scotland, at Foro Sol on March 26. The band has European arenas booked through the summer and then hits North America in the fall.

Depeche Mode is continuing its partnership with Swedish watchmaker Hublot on the new dates to donate to the nonprofit organization charity: water. Martin Gore told the audience during a press conference that the band and fans were able to raise over $1.4 million during the last tour, which funded clean drinking water for people in Kenya, Cambodia, Ethiopia and Rwanda. “If you don’t know charity water, you should,” he said. “There are still a lot of people in the world without clean drinking water.”
